Spain, Kingdom. An Order of Naval Merit, II Class Breast Star, Red Distinction Newly Listed measuring 80 mm (w) x(Orden al Mrito Naval). Instituted August 3, 1866. In bronze, an eight point star with faceted rays, with superimposed red enamelled cross, a blue enamelled cross sits atop the red cross, with alternating castilles and lions in each quadrant, surmounting crown at 12 oclock, reverse bears a vertical pin with dual stays, measures 62. 0 mm (w) x 62. 5 mm (h), enamels intact, light wear to gilt, remains in very fine condition.
